  • 1/3 cup organic shea butter
  • 2 tbsp organic sweet almond oil
  • 2 tbsp beeswax
  • 2 tbsp zinc oxide powder
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 1 tsp organic carrot seed essential oil
  • 10 drops organic citronella essential oil
  • 10 drops organic basil essential oil

  1. Measure out coconut oil and shea butter in a bowl.
  2. Melt beeswax in double boiler.
  3. Add sweet almond oil and vitamin E oil to melted beeswax, stirring to combine until blended with beeswax.
  4. Add shea butter and coconut oil to melted beeswax mixture, stirring to combine until melted/blended with beeswax mixture.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool until mixture just starts to congeal.
  6. Carefully add zinc oxide powder, taking care to cover your nose and mouth so you don’t inhale the dust. Mix thoroughly.
  7. Cool mixture in fridge for 15-30 minutes, until it starts to set.
  8. Remove from fridge and, using an electric mixer, beat the mixture for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Add carrot seed oil and other essential oils.
  10. Continue beating until light and fluffy (another 5 minutes)
  11. Pour/spoon mixture into desired tin or glass jar with lid.

Please note that you may like to scent your sunscreen with different essential oils, or combinations of essential oils.
