nirāmaya is not MLM

I have received numerous inquiries asking if nirāmaya is a multi-level marketing (MLM) enterprise. No, nirāmaya is not a MLM enterprise. nirāmaya is an e-commerce store and producer of handmade all-natural personal care products. I personally make all products featured on our website.
Creating and launching nirāmaya has been a great joy in my life. Above all else, I love sharing these all-natural products with customers. There have been a few surprises along the way, however.
The biggest surprise so far has been that some people have thought nirāmaya was a MLM. The first occurrence of this misunderstanding was within days of my launching nirāmaya. I had reached out to an acquaintance to inform them of the launch of nirāmaya. I heard back almost immediately with… “I don’t get involved in MLMs!”. I responded back to inform my acquaintance that nirāmaya was not a MLM and that I make all the products myself. Fortunately, my acquaintance said they would take another look at my website.
The second occurrence of mistaken identity was by a family member. After hearing about the launch of my company, my sister reached out to congratulate me but said that she “couldn’t get involved in a MLM at this time.”
Recently, another acquaintance shared that when they initially looked at my website, they too thought it was a MLM. This acquaintance shared that when she took a closer, second look, she realized the company and products were made by me. This acquaintance has since become a supportive customer and advocate of nirāmaya’s all-natural products.
I have taken the opportunity to ask these people why they thought nirāmaya was a MLM. The overarching response is that nirāmaya looks like a large company, and that because it looks like a large company there would or could be an element of MLM. The professional-looking and functioning website and other professional-looking advertisements gave these people this impression.
I am not offended by this observation of a professional-looking website and advertisements. Nor am I offended that nirāmaya looks like a large company. While I have no interest in mis-representing myself, having the look and feel of a large company is not a bad thing. Nor is having the look and feel of a small company a bad thing. While some people may be turned away from the idea of buying all-natural products from a large company, others will equally be attracted because it looks like a large company. Just as some people will like buying from a small company, while others will not like buying any products from a small company.
Who knows where this wonderful journey with nirāmaya will take me. But for now, nirāmaya remains an e-commerce store and producer of handmade all-natural personal care products. I continue to personally make all products featured on our website. And I look forward to sharing these wonderful all-natural products with you!
