Scalp scrubs have been used for centuries to help improve dry skin and restore its healthy glow. The nirāmaya scalp scrubs have been formulated to exfoliate your scalp and help control dandruff, while at the same time keep pH level of your scalp balanced and unclog hair follicles. This creates the optimal environment for hair health and growth. Choose from a sea salt scrub or a sugar scrub. The sea salt scrub is best for oily hair and scalps; the sugar scrub for dry scalps.

What causes dandruff? Dandruff can be caused by a number of factors, the most common being either a dry scalp or oily scalp. Oily skin on the scalp is typically the result of excessive sebum oil—sebum is a naturally-occurring substance emitted by the sebaceous glands in the body. A scalp with excessive sebum is often the result of over-washing, which can cause dandruff. A dry scalp will also lead to flaky skin and dandruff. Other causes of dandruff include reactions to hair products, yeast, and skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Mild dandruff can be taken care of by simply washing your hair with natural, mild shampoo. A natural shampoo may be less harsh on the scalp and help reduce skin irritation. More severe cases of dandruff may require a scalp exfoliation. Exfoliating the scalp can help eliminate dry, dead skin cells on the scalp and reduce build-up.
